In Funky Mode, DK and the partner character have one extra heart and the item price bonus applies, too. He might be the coolest dude, but he's not cool with that.Alternatively, you can play with Donkey Kong in Funky Mode to have your partners hop on your back in co-op. But be aware, the other Kongs can't hop on his back. You also can get items cheaper and switch them out mid-level. He also pulls off major feats of strength with just one hand. He has five hearts, can hover, land on spikes, and breathe underwater. But now you can also play as Funky Kong!įunky Kong comes with his own mode, simply called Funky Mode. The whole adventure with Donkey, Diddy, Dixie, and Cranky Kong is still there in all its glory with the normal mode, Hard Mode (only one playable Kong), and Time Attack (with online leaderboards and replay sharing) mode. If a Wii U owner wants it they can get it so what does making it just slightly harder to come by accomplish?Īnd there are already several Wii U-to-Switch ports and I don't recall any of them being discontinued from the online store.Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze on Nintendo Switch is essentially the same incredible game that it was on Wii U. The game is also plentiful in the used market. It seems to be a pretty easy game to find a physical copy of so this is just discouraging one specific type of sale. And if you really want this for the Wii U there I still see tons of copies at my local Wal-mart. If the Wii U game sales were a serious threat to Switch sales then the Wii U would have been successful enough that a new Nintendo console probably wouldn't have come out yet in the first place. The whole reason all these Wii U games are getting re-released is because they're like new games for most of the Switch userbase. Having any sort of concern about a Wii U game affecting Switch sales is silly since it's actually pretty hard to get a Wii U these days and hardly anyone owned one when it was current.
